Why our September weddings book a year out.

September is the most-asked-for wedding month in Lake County. The weather behaves, the photos come out warm, the dance floor is comfortable. Every couple wants a Saturday. There are only four of them.

We get this question monthly from couples who tour in March, fall in love with the room, and ask us about September. It’s worth being honest about what’s actually open and why.

The math, plainly

Most years there are four Saturdays in September. We host one wedding per Saturday. When you add the Friday-evening and Sunday-evening weddings (both 10% off), we can fit roughly twelve September weddings into a calendar year.

We typically have 30 to 40 couples ask about September in any given year. The math doesn’t change. The first dozen who put down a deposit get the dates.

When September dates actually open

• Twelve months out: All four Saturdays plus Fridays and Sundays are typically open. Most couples touring in August/September of the previous year will get their first-choice date.
• Nine months out: One or two Saturdays usually still open. Fridays and Sundays usually open.
• Six months out: Saturdays usually full. Fridays and Sundays may still be available for smaller weddings.
• Three months out: Cancellations happen, but rare. We keep a waiting list.

If you have your heart set on a specific Saturday — say, the one closest to your great-grandparents’ anniversary — book it as soon as you’ve decided. Saturdays in late September go fastest.

What opens up August and October

August is hot in Lake County. Most years it’s still nice enough for outdoor portraits, but the hall is at its busiest from a corporate-event standpoint, which means more conversations about which room is available when. October books faster than people expect, because the fall colors photograph well and the weather behaves through mid-month.

If September is full when you call, ask about late August or early October. We tend to have more flexibility there, and the photos are nearly identical.
